It is only January 4th, 2026 yet there is so much activity at all 11 hives. Yes 11 hives, that’s how many I had as of the start of this year.
New year activity
This should be recorded for later... Started the year with 11 strong healthy hives. The winter is nowhere near over so only time will tell how many of the 11 will be here in the spring.
So much activity on a warm sunny winter southern day.
Even the 8 frame hive is doing well. This is the only one I wasn’t sure how it was going to do.
January activity!
There is yet a lot more winter ahead and based on previous years, a number of very cold patches in February or so. Yet, the hives are so strong already. I'm not certain this is a good thing, but time will tell.
The ammount of activity this January, seen here through the very large ammount of polen that is being brought in - is simply out of control.
Cold day, full of activity
High 30’s low 40’s today and the bees are still active and bringing a little bit of pollen. I will never understand where they find it, this time of the year, after a night with temps in the high teens…. Go bees go!
January pollen is coming in strong
Sunny winter day, plenty of bee activity at the bee yard.
Every one of the 11 hives is showing strong activity.
It never ceases to amaze me where and how the bees find pollen on these cold winter sunny days.
