Well, it has happened. I picked the first watermelon form my garden. It didn’t disappoint. I think I am maybe 3 days too soon but overall it was crisp and acceptably sweet. With a few more days, it probably would have been perfect perfect.
Based on my research - when a watermelon is 100% ripe the transition from core red to inner peel white is much more abrupt.
It also sounds like the ideal spot should be larger and more creamy-white vs yellow.
